SENCO – Vale of York Academy

Vacancy: SENCO
Salary: L6-10
Contract Type: Permanent
Start Date: Easter 2019 or September 2019 for the right candidate

We are looking to appoint an outstanding teacher who has a clear understanding and knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice and ideally the National Award for SEN Co-ordination (NasenCo). The core focus of the role of SENCo is working with and under the Vice Principal for Student Welfare in removing barriers to learning and the successful applicant would have a 10/25hr teaching commitment in a specific area or delivering literacy and numeracy to year 7 and 8 nurture groups. The future for the school is an extremely exciting one and we see this role as key to improving the life chances for the students in our care.

Vale of York Academy is one of three secondary schools in the expanding Hope Learning Trustfamily, which makes this an excellent opportunity for an ambitious individual to join the team and to work in a small, close-knit community, with extensive avenues for professional development across the Trust as a whole.

We have a vital role in transforming the lives of all our young people and their community, and are committed to supporting students and staff to be their very best by accepting personal responsibility and always striving to do better. These expectations extend far beyond learning. We expect the highest standards of behaviour, creating an environment where students feel safe, sanctions are applied fairly and positive contributions are recognised and rewarded.

If you are an outstanding and motivational teacher with excellent subject knowledge and the desire and commitment to raise achievement of students at all levels, we would encourage you to join us at our happy, warm and caring school.

An application form and further details can be downloaded below and also by contacting Mrs Jo Bogue, PA to Principal at j.bogue@valeofyorkacademy.org

Visits to the Academy are warmly welcomed. Please contact Mrs Bogue on 01904 560035.

The successful candidate can be assured of our full support in their further professional development and career aspirations.

Vale of York Academy is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.

The successful candidate will be subject to an enhanced DBS check, medical clearance and satisfactory references.
