This academic year we are excited to be working in partnership with the Institute of Education University College London (IOE UCL) to deliver the National Professional Qualification for Middle Leadership (NPQML) and Senior Leadership (NPQSL). UCL IOE is a world-leading centre for research and teaching in education and social science. It has been ranked number one for education worldwide since 2014 in the QS World University Rankings. In the most recent Research Excellence Framework assessment of university research, the IOE was top for ‘research power’ in education.
The NPQML and NPQSL provide recognition of leadership development and professional achievement for middle and senior leaders. The qualification will support you in becoming a highly effective leader, with the skills, confidence and knowledge to drive successful team performance and improved classroom practice across your team, and across your school.
As part of this we have trained Hope Senior Leaders and Headteachers to be facilitators on the programmes so that colleagues can work alongside a range of different approaches, skills and experience.
Applications for the Accelerated NPQML and NPQSL programmes open on 9 October and close on 27 November. This is the final opportunity to take this qualification in this format.
The programme starts in late January 2021 and participants will have their first face to face sessions (in person or over Zoom) late January/Early February.
For the NPQML, there will be four full day sessions which will take place once every half-term – Spring 1, Spring 2, Summer 1 and Summer 2/Autumn 1 (depending on national exams).
For the NPQSL there will be five full day sessions which will take place once a half term – Spring 1, Spring 2, Summer 1, Summer 2/Autumn 1 (depending on national exams) and Autumn 2.
Both NPML and SL participants must submit their assignments by August 2022.
Participants will not be able to defer from the programme as this will be the final cohort of NPQML and SL in this format.
Middle and senior leaders across the Hope and SALT schools.
The programme is FREE for all SALT and Hope schools.

“The NPQML programme has helped with my confidence to be a middle leader. I sometimes felt I would not make a ‘good’ middle leader because I wasn’t the loudest character, however the programme has helped me realise that there are lots of different types of managers and you don’t need to be ‘loud’ to be a great manager or leader.”
